I noticed that when I get stressed my depression increases. One way to reduce stress is to not worry about anything…easier said than done, especially when you have kids. Any mom will tell you that. I am the type of person who also doesn’t ask for help very often, which increases stress.
I recently had a situation that put me through the roof. When yo have a kid who you thought you would never need to worry about totally screws up, as a mom who wants her kids to have a better life than she’s had…you flip out. I lost a couple night’s sleep due to worry. Then I thought to myself, why should I have all the “fun”? So I got my Ex involved. But even then, I had a lot of ideas running through my head I was still awake at night. I just can’t turn my brain off. So here is my fix.
Write everything down. Keep a pad of paper nearby and when you think of a question, or have an epiphany you can write it down and then it’s out of your head. It’s like when you get a song in your head and you tell someone else about it, the song magically jumps into their head and out of yours!! Amazing! Writing things down is a great way to brainstorm as well. This lets you visualize your thoughts. You can eliminate some right away then and only leave the more probable solutions. You don’t even have to write on the lines. You can write anything anywhere, just create a circle or a box around each idea. Then if you have 2 ideas that go together, link them with a line. Keep your thoughts organized. The more organized you are the less stress you will have and you will keep your depression in check.
